My Life Story

From East to West

Born and raised in Hong Kong, I fell in love with North America at fifteen when my geography teacher, Mr. Chin, introduced us to the majestic Rocky Mountains, the vast Great Lakes, three surrounding oceans, and the iconic Appalachian Mountains. I secretly promised myself that one day I would live in a place where mountains, oceans, and lakes are breathtaking, and where the values of liberty, fairness, and justice are deeply rooted. I also dreamed of speaking English as perfectly as the Queen of England.

Proud to be Canadian

Fast forward to today: I have lived in Ontario, Canada, since 1987 and relocated to British Columbia in the fall of 2024.

I am a mother of four adult children—three daughters and one son—who are my greatest reflections and sources of strength. My three grandchildren inspire me to live fully, keep learning, and give generously. My husband supports me unconditionally, allowing me to focus on my work, studies, and numerous projects.

Professionally, my career can be categorized into 3 segments. They intertwine and enrich one another: IT (Informational Technology) Professional, Mental Health Counselling, and Trainer/Instructor.

Academic Degrees

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - California State University, Fresno, California, USA

Lifelong Learning Journey

IT Professional

IT Professional

I started my career as a Programmer/Analyst in a financial firm. For thirty-plus years, I worked many roles such as IT Manager, Senior PMO Manager, Project Manager, Scrum Master, Chief Scrum Master, Agile Coach…

I keep current my professional certifications in PMP (Project Management Professional) and CSM (Certified Scrum Master).

Clinical Counselling

Clinical Counselling

Prompted by years of struggles in close relationships, I took up part-time studies in a Master Degree in Christian Counselling when I was 40 years old. Upon graduation in 2004, I started counselling on the side.

I accumulated 10 years of clinical counselling experience and obtained my Registered Psychotherapist credential in Ontario. In 2018, I kissed counselling goodbye and pivoted back to IT.

Trainer/Instructor

Trainer/Instructor

I spent many years in teaching college students or professional adults in Project Management, Communications, Business Strategies, etc. Teaching took me from Toronto, Ontario to White Horse, Yukon and beautiful British Columbia.

I also enjoy speaking at conferences and facilitating workshops such as Stress Management, Mindfulness, Personalities, and Strengthening our Strengths, etc.

My Mission is to inspire, equip, and mobilize individuals to live life to the fullest.
